Communication Evaluations
The initial assessment is completed prior to the commencement of pediatric services. The evaluation process is designed to establish a comprehensive understanding of your child's current levels of functioning and to identify specific areas of need. Potential areas of need include articulation, grammar, vocabulary, social language, and stuttering. This multi-faceted process may include a combination of key components such as guardian interview, a review of educational and medical history, observation, developmental norms checklists, and / or standardized assessment.

Articulation includes speech sounds, sound patterns, intelligibility, and rate.
Grammar includes using sentences of adequate length and complexity.
Vocabulary includes using age- appropriate words.
Social language includes using language for social communication purposes.
Stuttering includes a disruption in the verbal flow of speech.
A written report is provided, shared, and reviewed prior to the commencement of services. The results of the evaluation are used to establish a baseline and determine goals for the therapy sessions.
